RULES
1. Payment of entry fees indicated the agreement of competitors and spectators
not to hold the organisers liable or responsible for any loss, damage or accident
incurred by any persons, property on the showfield and/or parking field.
2. Competitors take part entirely at their own risk and it is compulsory for
riding hats (to Standard PAS015 or BSEM13784) with chin straps /safety harness
to be fastened at all times when mounted
It is now COMPULSORY for all JUNIOR
riders ie. (age 15 years & under on 1st January) to wear body protectors
when competing in any jumping class (show jumping, working hunter, clear round,
Classes 38 & 39 if a jump is used). It is strongly recommended that body
protectors are worn by other age groups, for all classes. JUNIOR riders are
NOT ALLOWED to wear SPURS in any class.
The term JUNIOR means all competitors
who are aged 15 years & under on 1st January are eligible
to compete as a junior until the end of the calendar year.
3. Judges’ decision, in respect of each class, will be final.
ANY objections should be made in writing to the Chairman, together with a deposit
of £5 which will be refunded, if the objection is upheld.
4. All breaches of the rules, matters of discipline and objections shall be
referred to a stewards committee, comprising either the President or Chairman,
and any two other committee members. Their decision shall be final and binding
and shall be notified direct to the person(s) concerned.
Bad language will NOT be tolerated on the showfield.
5. The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entries considered to be unsuitable
for any class or to expel from the field any person or horse/pony behaving in
a manner likely to adversely affect the safety or enjoyment of others.
6. Family Membership means Parent/Guardian and children (i.e. immediate family
only).
7. NO COLTS or STALLIONS or horse/pony suspected of illness are allowed
on the showfield.
No horse/pony under 4 years of age can be entered in any ridden classes. Any
young horse/pony found to be causing problems or is deemed dangerous, will be
asked to leave the showground.
8. Cruelty to any horse/pony or excessive use of the riding crop/whip
and spurs, immediately disqualifies entry.
9. Cantering is not allowed except in the rings. Anyone seen cantering outside
the rings/schooling area will be reported to the Stewards and may be sent off
the field, forfeiting any entry fees already paid.
10. Once a pony has been entered into a horse class it may not then be re-entered
in a pony
class and vice-versa.
11. Measurement may be taken at any time at the Judges’ discretion or
the Committee.
12. No horse/pony may be entered more than once for any class, although one
rider may enter more than one different horse/pony (except in Minor Pony, Minor
Horse, Clear Round & Handy Pony).
13. Points towards the Championship will be awarded to PAID UP
members of IDRA riding a horse/pony owned by a Member of IDRA. The Committee
cannot guarantee to accept your Membership on show days. Posted subscriptions
are not valid until received.
14. Points will be cumulative in respect of the same horse/pony and rider and
it should be noted that if the name of the horse/pony is altered during the
Season, points will not be cumulative. Points will be awarded in each Class
as follows .......
1st - 4 points; 2nd - 3 points; 3rd - 2 points; 4th
- 1 point
One point will be awarded for each class entered, PROVIDING
the entrant does not withdraw for any reason. Rosettes will be awarded to the
first four placed. If there are eight or more entries in the Class, a Sash or
1st Medallion will also be awarded.
15. If there are less than 12 competitors in a class, the number of cash
prizes awarded may be reduced below the number offered in the schedule by withholding
lower prizes provided the following minimum numbers of prizes are awarded. (NB.
Rosettes will still be awarded in the normal way)
Less than 4 Entries - 1st Prize
8-11 Entries - 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes
4-7 Entries - 1st and 2nd Prizes 12 and above Entries - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th prizes
Overall Championship winners will be calculated on points
gained by a rider on ONE horse/pony
Please ensure the same show name is used throughout the season when
entering or points will be split between equine names and you could lose those
valuable points.
16. The Pre-Season Show in April does not count towards
points, but prize money will be awarded according to RULE 15.
17. The Committee reserves the right to combine any Classes
due to a small number of entries.
18. Show Jumping Ring. Refusals in the show jumping will incur the following
penalties:
1st refusal = 4 faults; 2nd refusal = 4 faults and 3rd refusal = elimination.
Fall of rider = Elimination. RIDERS ARE NOT ALLOWED to re-mount
in the ring under any circumstances. This rule also applies
to ALL WORKING HUNTER CLASSES.
19. In JUMPING classes, the term NOVICE applied to HORSE/PONY AND RIDER COMBINATIONS
not having won a total of £99. Please note that a novice combination WILL
BE or IS de-noviced if total winnings exceed £99 at ANY TIME DURING
THE SEASON. It also precludes Rider and Pony/Horse combination having
won previous IDRA Championships for that class. All Novice & Intermediate
classes will be run as a TWO PHASE competition. The
two phases run without interruption, the finishing line for the first phase
being identical with the starting line for the second. The first phase is not
against the clock and will be a course of 7 to 9 obstacles. The second phase
takes place over 4 to 6 obstacles. As the first phase is not timed, should no
competitor, or not enough competitors complete phase one to fill the awards,
all those with the lowest faults from the first phase will be placed equal.
Competitors stopped after the first phase may only be placed after competitors
who have taken part in both phases. A competitor who does not complete the first
phase is not eligible for an award of qualifying place.
20. Riders must declare to the Collecting Ring Steward
BEFORE walking the course. Only those participating in the
current class will be permitted in the collecting ring.
21. Riders will be eligible to compete on horses in the
show jumping classes from the beginning of the calendar year in which the age
of 12 is reached.
22. Any rider and horse/pony combination opting to ride
H/C in any class, will not allowed to compete in any jump off round.
23. NO SPURS ALLOWED. This appears against
a large number of our classes in all three rings.
Junior jumping classes, junior rider classes (see Rule 2), Mountain & Moorland
classes, some working hunter classes and all equitation classes.
24. All Equitation classes have to be ridden in a snaffle
bridle. No spurs allowed.
25. Entries for all events will be taken on the day.
NOT REFUNDABLE.
26. Entry fees for Non-members are £2 extra
per Class.
27. The person named on the entry sheet must take the
horse/pony into the ring. Any amendment must be advised to the Judge, Ring Steward
or Secretary before entering the ring.
28. Late entries MAY be taken at the Judges’ discretion.
29. Ring Championships – all qualified
riders must be mounted to take part in any Ridden Ring Championship.
When a rider qualifies on more than one horse/pony in the same Championship,
the owner/rider must choose which animal to enter on as it is the winning
rider/horse/pony combination only allowed to compete for the championship.
30. NO fires, barbecues or naked flames
are allowed on either IDRA field or Nell Bank Field except for
IDRA approved catering facility.
